Rebirth of a great team.

[Colin Wagner]

The X-Men disbanded after the Avengers Civil War. Kris and Colin stayed together, moving out on their own. Alex stayed in the mansion, working day and night on dead
end projects. Artemis moved out and over the course of the next few years became a highly aclaimed designer. Drake and Lucas left, Lucas helping Drake get over the hunger
and uncontrolable side of him that is caused by feeding, after he broke it off with Scarlet. As for the rest, very little is known. In Colin and Kris's little world,
Colin as a MMA instructor, and fighter, Kris as a (idk) Lately, they've been trying to have a kid. In 2046, after finding out she was pregnant, lost the baby three months
later. Devastated, she's scared to try and have another one. Their love is as strong as ever, still like they were back during the X-Men. Which is now nothing more than a
memory.


We now look into the daily life of Colin and Kris wagner. Pretty ordinary. Until you find what's lurking under the surface.

The gray clouds loomed over Kris and Colins' small townhouse, obscuring the sun. Kris stirred in their wooden bed Colin had constructed before moving in. Kris awoke, turning to face the other side of the bed.

Colin was on his stomach, he raised his head, his eyes opening, and blinking a few times. He yawned, letting his head fall back down onto the pillow. "Morning sleeping beauty." He said, muffled by the pillow. He said this to her alot, ever since they first shared a room back at the mansion. He turned over, facing her, rubbing his eyes with the palm of his right hand. A loud clap of thunder erupted outside, cutting the power in the entire apartment complex. Their bedside lamp turned off, as did the small AC in the window.

Kris sighed at the power outage. She turned over, rolling out of bed. She pulled out a lighter and lit a candle that sat on a nightstand beside the bed. She picked up the candle and brought to the bathroom, which was linked to their bedroom. She brushed her teeth and got dressed afterwards. Still using the small flame as a light source, she asked, "Okay, what do you want for breakfast today?" She set down the candle and rolled back into bed to face Colin.

"Can't we just Lay here all day? I mean, what's the problem in that?" He asked, sleepily, yawning again. "Just forget about the world for a day and let it just be us. Like it, used to be." He said, the last line kind of quietly. Thunder rang through the sky again, as the rain got harder along with the wind.

Meanwhile, In Artemis's life--

[Artemis Watson]

A generic, harsh alarm rang through a young adult's room. The auburn-haired student groaned as he processed the alarm--and its purpose. Artemis slowly rolled out of his single-sized bed, used to the morning's  typical agony. He ran a hand through his short, unkempt hair, dimmed eyes scanning over his small room. It was a decent-chunk of a near-decently sized apartment--For New York. His bright green eyes, slowly adjusting to the small amount of sunlight his windows provided, almost immediately settled on his laptop. It was settled on the wooden desk he kept in the corner, which he reluctantly began to move toward. As he settled into the old-looking chair, small adjustments were made to the fabric of his sleeveless, black shirt. Afterward, he slowly fitted his almost-oversized pair of black glasses onto his face, wasting some more time to make sure everything he would 'need' was comfortably nearby.
Still in college, he'd become an intern designer for some charity he'd probably care about when he was a teen. Sure, he was decent what he did, but the constant grind nearly killed any motivation he had before he started any of this work. He was hoping, that at least the smallest of time-wasters would negate the redundant nature of his work.

Kris stood up, fixing her side of the bed. "Well, we can't, because we're adults now, remember?" Kris said as she straightened out the blanket the best she could with Colin still laying on it. "So, pancakes it is." Kris said with her hands on her hips. She walked out of their room and into the kitchen with their lighter, illuminating candles on her path to the kitchen. She opened the now-dark fridge, taking out the ingredients to make their breakfast and began whisking away.

Colin got up a few minutes later, his hair in a mess, and in nothing but loose boxers. "Babe..." He began, standing in the doorway to the kitchen, scratching the back of his neck. "How in the hell are you going to make pancakes..?" He said, motioning to the candles, and the dark kitchen. Thunder clapping once again.

Kris slowly stopped whisking, and set down the stainless-steel bowl, a clang as she set it down. She sighed deeply, rubbing her forehead. She had been stressed out the past few months since the miscarriage, in-between work and worrying. Kris picked up the bowl, half-filled with batter, and began dumping it out. "Cereal it is," She declared, dropping the bowl in their sink afterwards. Whenever she was stressed-out, she did everything fast-paced. Kris walked to a top cabinet with long strides, opening it to take out a container filled with cereal. She took out a bowl and began dumping the cereal in, eyes fixed on the cereal.

Colin walked over to Kris, standing behind her. He rapped his arms around her stomach, his hands grabbing the container and sitting it down on the counter. "Stop." He said, calmly behind her. He rested his chin on her shoulder and sighed. "Listen, Get out of your clothes. Get into something comfortable. And go sit on the couch. I'm going to make us a hodgepodge of chips and other total bull shit that we have no idea how it got into our cabinets, and that will be our popcorn substitute. And then, we can play a board game, watch the storm, or just talk. You need a break. We both do."

Kris turned to face Colin, wrapping her arms around him and leaning into him. "Thank you." She whispered, heading into their bedroom to change into sweatpants and one of Colins' sweaters. Kris walked by Colin as she headed to their couch, pecking him on the cheek. Laying on the couch, she made herself comfortable in Colins' over-sized jacket as a blanket. She let out a deep breath, closing her eyes.

Colin walked over with a large bowl filled with an assortment of different chips, cookies, crackers, marshmallows, and cereal, and two wine glasses and one of their last bottles of expensive wine. "I haven't seen that sweater since...." He said, cutting himself off and instead sitting down in front of her on the couch, a small amount of room left on the end, sitting about where her stomach was. He looked down at her, smiling faintly, lost in thought.

The rain began to pour harder on their roof. Kris took a chip and ate it, "A very long time ago." She said, finishing his sentence. She never took time to reminisce of the old times, as she was often too caught up in the modern times. When she did think of the past, she hated it. It made her realize her aging and compares fun to constant work. Kris stared out the window, viewing the gray outdoors.

Alex stood outside of the large building that housed Artemis. On one of these floors, stood the man he left so long ago. He took in a deep breath, and stepped through the front doors. Soaking wet, and wearing an all black cardigan, jeans, and a pair of black converse. His typical look. Despite the others, he had not aged a day. Still looking exactly the same, only now sporting a short, scruffy beard. He walked to the mail boxes, searching for Artemis's name.

Colin sighed, sitting there, remembering all the good times they had at the mansion, all of their old friends they lost after the Avengers Civil war. Alex, Arty, Drake. All of them. Not a sign of them. The last thing they heard about Drake was that he went full blood sucker with Lucas, after he broke up with Scarlet. As for Artemis, he's in some designer company or something.

Artemis' eyes darted across the bright display, biting ever-so gently into his lower lip, pressure building as he attempted to create anything resembling a decent composition. Soft mutters about how bad his work was escaped the tight bite. The design wasn't something he was pressed on time for, but without the near-mind numbing work, he'd have nothing to do. Hardly acknowledged by the young adult, was his roommate shouting something of a farewell, before leaving the 4703-numbered apartment.
Artemis would hardly ever consider his time in the mansion--Mostly due to work, partly because of the slight mental tweaking he had kept in place to almost prevent any distracting, depressing thoughts of his past to enter his working mind. Which, as a student, was near-perpetual. However, late nights working would allow him to consider the few important members of his team--Including the unaging son of Beast.

"4703. Bingo." Alex muttered to himself, he took the elevator, as he did a person who, was Arty's roomate, exited. He looked confused for a second, but being busy, left in a hurry. Alex eventually reached Artemis's floor, hesitantly, he exited the elevator and into the brightly lit hall. His palms were sweating, and he was nervous. He slowly made his way to the door, pacing back in front of it, thinking of something to say. The mumbling could be heard inside of the apartment.

Artemis, after just a moment of hearing the soft voice, developed an eager grin. If it was a psycho outside of his apartment, he could watch through his peephole. If there was a psycho inside the apartment, he'd at least have a valid excuse for putting off the work--Maybe even getting out of the assignment.
Rushing to move out from the desk, he kept the same quick pace as he left the room, walking into the cramped living space outside. He inspected the area around his as he walked, making sure his previous accusation of the voice coming from a room inside was incorrect. 
Once he was sure that he wouldn't be found stuffed into a pillowcase in the form of several sliced bits, he made his way through the small living room, going to the door. Raising himself a bit as he pressed against the cold, white surface of the door, he shut one eye as he peered through the peephole with the other.
What he would find quickly replaced any of his thoughts about work, or psychotic killers hiding in his apartment. He slowly moved away from the door, eyes wide in uncertainty. "Uh, someone out there?" He called, hoping to pass off as unknowing before having to deal with what may come.

Alex stopped pacing, stopped everything all together. He froze, mid step. His thumb nail in his teeth from the constant nervous biting. He didn't look up from the oddly designed floor. That was him alright, the way he spoke, the Alex knew he had already looked through the peep hole because of the flashing light from behind the door, the way he acted as if he didn't see him so that he could maybe avoid confrontation.

Artemis cleared his throat, hoping the action might settle the rapidly-growing feeling of nervousness settling in his stomach. Clearly, the call hadn't done anything except confirm his identity. The thought of using his ability to 'confront' the seven-year-old tension eased his worry, although he had already gone to work before he could consider any pros or cons. He swiftly unlocked the door, wincing some as the lock made its small, near-squeaking sound. 

The same hand that had turned the lock's 'handle' quickly made its way to the doorknob, turning it almost as fast as Arty could regret the action, even pulling as Artemis shut his eyes. he was exposed in the mid-sized crack the door made. He returned his lip to his bite, slowly opening his eyes afterward. Looking up some, a weak smile formed to hide the fiery regret he felt. "Uh. Hey?"

Alex looked up, his eyes intense, just now realizing he would be showing his immortality, after not ageing for seven years. "Hey.." He said, his voice smooth, and smoky as it always was. His hands were in his pockets, as he looked at Artemis. He had aged well.

Artemis' smile shifted, replacing its awkward force with shock-turned-force. "What're you... Uh, doing here?" He asked, voice cracking just a bit as he processed Alex's appearance. Initially figuring he was old enough to have a close-enough adult appearance, a part of his mind considered the possibility of hallucination.

"I uh." Actually, Alex didn't know why he was here. The night before, and every night for the past month, he had this dream. Kind of a vision of the future. It was all of the old team, together, for one last fight. But it wasn't just a fight. It was a fight against themselves. Their old selves. Their young selves. It didn't make any sense, none of it did. And he thought if anyone could help him make sense of it, It'd be artemis.

Artemis looked around a bit, shrugging a bit as the question hung. "You want to, come inside and explain?" He offered, opening the door a bit more. His smile warmed some, keeping a hint of confusion. 
The thought of using his telepathy quickly came to mind, only to be shrugged off. It was an intrusive ability he hated to use, instead relying on the nature of others for answers.

Alex wondered why Artemis didn't even hint at his looks. How he looked exactly the same as he did when they met. He nodded awkwardly, entering the apartment, he looked around nervously, trying to figure out what to say.
